Coffee Bar – Progress Report

Remember the Coffee Bar project we started in early 2013? Here’s where we left off. We took an unused wall in our dining room, built Ikea cabinet bases, and added a temporary wood counter top.

This past weekend we hit up Ikea again, got a few more supplies and were able to make a bit more progress.

We added doors to the left and right bottom cabinets (the middle is getting a drawer unit)

We also added glass shelves to the uppers and some hardware to the lowers. (Luckily the previous owner had installed a kitchen almost entirely out of Ikea products. This has made it incredibly easy to source products for the coffee bar that match the kitchen.)

So far the coffee bar is getting a ton of use. It has taken all the coffee related paraphernalia out of my kitchen prep zone. It is also storing all our party bar ware, as well as my baking & casserole dishes.

We still have to add cover panels on the sides of the cabinets. Install some electrical outlets at counter height. Add under cabinet lighting, a concrete counter top, a drawer unit, upper glass cabinets and open shelving between the uppers. I cant wait until it’s complete!
