Hope all my Amerifriends had a great Thanksgiving!! Hopefully you are lounging off the turkey in your sweat pants, with a good cup of coffee. In Canada we celebrate our Thanksgiving back in October, so it was business as usual this week.
This is what we’ve been up to.
Progress is continuing on with Project Nelson. El Granto has been on sanding duty, while I have been staining and polyurethaning. We don’t have a lot of space, so we are doing things in batches. First up were the legs. We opted to stain and poly the legs separate from the table and benches. The table needs to be moved, so the legs are staying separate from the table until the install. As for the benches, well, staining & polying benches are a paaaaain. Its hard to get to the legs and in all the nooks etc. So we opted to keep the tops off until everything was finished, then assemble. This has kept us busy every night after work!
Last weekend our friend Nicky came over and we had a girls night in the workshop. I love teaching others to build things, and getting experience with different tools. Nicky used the circular saw, miter saw, jig saw, drill, bench sander and palm sander. Hows that for a crash course in tools?! I am thinking of hosting some workshops for women. I love seeing women get comfortable with tools!
We have started making some holiday gifts, such as the beer carrier & glasses. No holiday decorating yet. We’re thinking of not putting up the big tree this year (don’t shoot me!) Instead I am on the hunt for a small live tree like this or this or this. It could sit happily in the corner, or on the staircase landing. Hoping to keep it alive, and bring it outdoors when the weather gets nicer.
I finally got off my butt and framed another large poster from my trip to Denmark & Sweden. I placed it on the landing for the interim, but need to decide where to hang it. El Granto thinks I should swap it out for the one in the powder room. The powder room by the way is reaaaaally close to finished. Cant wait to show you. Still on the hunt for either a raw brass or black toilet paper holder though!
How was your week? Are you braving the crowds and hitting up the shops this weekend, or avoiding it at all costs?
