Kitchen Before

We are busy working away on Project Concrete Countertops for the next few days, but I wanted to give you a look at the Kitchen Before and where we wanted to head with our simple changes.

Now for some of our inspiration. We are keeping our Ikea Adel cabinets, our grey walls, appliances, and my newly painted teal cabinet backs. We are adding in dark concrete countertops, a new farmhouse sink, white subway tile backsplash and hopefully in the near future a black faucet. You can check out much more of my Kitchen Inspiration on my Kitchen Pinterest Board.

Here is a little mood board I put together to show all my materials put together.

Kitchen MoodboardWhat do you think? Are we on our way to a modern traditional kitchen?

  1. Yes, I think you are! Very exciting! I’d include some kind of salvaged wall cupboard or shelf to break up all that newness. Something with real patina. Kind like what you did with your coffee bar open wood shelves. Btw, if you get an ikea faucet, beware, I researched it for my place and it’s kinda flimsy. If you go that route I’d invest in a higher end manufacturer. Good luck with the concrete. Can’t wait to see what you guys come up with!

    1. Hi Lynne, we need to find something for the back cover panel of the peninsula. My best friend suggested some reclaimed wood, or wood stained similar to the coffee bar shelves, and I think you both have a great idea! It will mix up some of the materials in the space. As for the faucet, that’s a really good point! We haven’t purchased it yet so I will research a higher end faucet with a similar old farmhouse vibe. Thanks for your helpful suggestions!
